What is your title?
Academic Director of the White Rose Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Enterprise Professor of Child and Family Welfare

What did you do before joining the Enterprise Zone?
Dean of Social Sciences from 2005-8.
What does a typical day involve?
A typical day might involve: a strategy meeting with the Enterprise staff team, substantial email correspondence, an informal discussion with an intern, a phone call to a Head of Department, the writing of a brief document about an Enterprise development, reading a Government initiative on enterprise, and talking to two local businesses who would like to be involved with us.
What was the last book you read, what did you think of it?
I’m reading ‘The Northern Clemency’ by Philip Hensher, I thought the play ‘August: Osage County’ at the National Theatre was brilliant, and the film ‘Revolutionary Road’ at the Showroom was harrowingly impressive … they’re all about family, they all have great skill in them, and they could all be considered part of my research work on family…
Who would you most like to have dinner with and why?
My kids are increasingly scattered around UK, we had great summers on the North Norfolk Coast when they were younger, and we all still love the area, so dinner there, with them and my wife, on a lovely evening, would be great.
