What is your title?

Enterprise Zone Administrator

What did you do before joining the Enterprise Zone?

I’ve worked at the University since 1999:

  • 2003-2006: PA to the Director of the White Rose Centre for Enterprise
  • 1999-2003: Secretary to the Dean for Postgraduate Students, School of Nursing & Midwifery

During this time I entered higher education as a mature student and achieved the following:

  • 2000-2004: MA Heritage Management (PT) at Sheffield Hallam University
  • 1997–2000: BA (Hons) Historical Studies (FT) at Sheffield Hallam University

What does a typical day involve?

Very good question! No day is the same and so cannot be described as typical but some of the things I do are – dealing with matters concerning the Zone, responding to a plethora of emails on a variety of topics, financial matters, planning and organising events, occasional reception cover, liaising with our team of Interns, making and receiving phone calls, dealing with queries.

What was the last book you read, what did you think of it?

The very last book I read was ‘The Kissing Gates’ by Mackenzie Ford. A wartime love triangle, with a secret. It was a captivating read with a twist at the end.

I’m currently reading ‘Defiance’ by Nechama Tec – the true story of the Bielski Partisans (Jewish resistance fighters in WW2) which is proving to be a worthwhile read, but I missed the film with Daniel Craig.

Who would you most like to have dinner with and why?

There are so many people to consider for different reasons! However if I had to choose anyone it would be David and myself together with our great friends and their kids from Oakland, New Jersey. We first met them on honeymoon in St Lucia and have kept in touch with them ever since. We’ve been able to visit the States twice and got together with them on both occasions.
